Chris Medina is a 27-year-old contestant on ‘American Idol‘. He’s suddenly an important person because of his life story.

Medina is from Chicago and he has been with his girlfriend Juliana Ramos for eight years. Two years ago they got engaged. Unfortunately, on October 2, 2009, Juliana was involved in a car accident. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and she was left nearly paralyzed.
The day the ‘Idol’ judges were in Milwaukee, Medina walked into the room, accompanied by his disabled fiancee, Juliana. He was wearing her engagement ring around his neck. He sang a beautiful rendition of The Script’s ‘Breakeven’.
The judges were impressed. Steven Tyler even said Medina was so good because he sang to her. “It’s why he’s so good”, he said.

I kinda feel sorry for the other contestants. Who can compete with that kind of story? I hope the "judges" don't let emotional issues cloud their judgment.

Well I understand what you are saying. At the same time should he win he could help his fiance who knows if he won, for her, it would be a good reason. Good enough for me.
