
Thomas Roberts married to Patrick Abner
Thomas Roberts is a married man. The MSNBC star tied the knot with his longtime love Patrick Abner. The two exchanged vows over the weekend in New York City. The wedding ceremony took place at the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel Saturday.
The ceremony was officiated by California’s Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom. Sam Champion, Aviva Drescher, Meghan McCain, Judith Light, Wilson Cruz, Don Lemon, Carson Kressley and Nate Berkus attended the wedding.
According to the Huffington Post, 40-year-old Roberts becomes the first cable news anchor to marry someone of the same sex.
“Morning in NYC is pretty sweet waking up as a married man!” Roberts wrote on Twitter on Sunday, September 30. In addition he posted a photo of his ring.
He also debuted his and Abner’s super-couple moniker in response to a congratulatory tweet: “ThomPat!”
The two began dating in 2005. They became engaged on June 25, 2011, one day after same-sex marriage in New York was legalized.
Back in 2006, Roberts became the first national TV anchor to come out. He was working for CNN at the time.
