Rio de Janeiro to Host 2016 Olympics

Despite President Barack Obama's plea for 2016 Olympics to go to Chicago, Rio de Janeiro was more convincing. This is the first time when the Olympics go to South America. In the finale Rio de Janeiro has competed with Madrid but succeeded to win. Unfortunately Chicago was eliminated in the first round, while Tokyo in the second.
Rio de Janeiro's biggest advantage was that the Olympics have never been hosted by a South American city. At the announcement 50, 000 people cheered on Rio's famed Copacabana Beach.
Until now, only Africa and Antarctica never hosted the Olympics.
