Queen Elizabeth / Colin Firth
More important than winning an Oscar is The Queen Elizabeth’s recognition. Colin Firth has received the royal seal of approval for his role in ‘The King’s Speech’.
Apparently, The Queen, who saw the movie, was touched by Firth’s portrayal of her late father.
In the highly rewarded movie, Firth plays George VI who’s trying to overcome his acute stutter in the lead up to his coronation in 1936.
In the movie, The Queen as a young girl is played by Freya Wilson.
“The Queen loves a good film. ‘The King’s Speech’ is close to the bone as it is a portrayal of her family life in the 1930s”, one source told The Sun.
The film has already won awards from the Producers Guild of America and the Directors Guild of America. The movie is also up for Best Pictures at The Oscars later this month.
