'The Deadliest Catch' star, Phil Harris died. He was 53 years old. On January 29th the deep-sea fisherman suffered a stroke and for a few days he showed signs of recovering, but in the end his heart failed.
"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad - Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down", his sons Jake and Josh Harris said in a statement posted on the Discovery Channel Web site.
Phil Harris' show, which aired for five seasons, was one the Discovery Channel's most popular. "Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart", Elizabeth Hillman, Discovery Channel senior vice president declared.
