Paul Anka
Michael Jackson’s posthumously released new song ‘This Is It’ wasn’t entirely written by the pop star. It seems that he was helped by co-writer, Canadian singer Paul Anka.
Soon after the song was released, the fans and the critics spotted similarities between the track and one recorded twenty years ago. Paul Anka declared for The New York Times that he had written the song in 1983 with Michael who recorded it as a duet with Spanish Harlem’s own Safire under the title ‘I Never Heard’ in 1991. Anka also mentioned that he had not received any writing credit for the single. The same day, John McClain, named as executor of Jackson’s estate promised to pay Anka 50 percent of all profits. “The song was co-written by the legendary Paul Anka”, McClain declared in a statement.
‘This Is It’ is part of a two-disc album upcoming internationally on October 26 and in North America on October 27.
