Paula Abdul turns 50

Paula Abdul turns 50 today! While she looks like a much younger woman, the singer has a past full of success. Paula rose to fame in the late ’80s with hits such as ‘Opposites Attract’ and ‘Forever Your Girl’. The new millennium brought her back after she spent a while away from the spotlight as one of the first judges on ‘American Idol’.

There are a few facts you may not know about Paula. For example, she started her career in the showbiz with the help of the Jackson family who asked her to help with the siblings’ dance moves for the video for the tune ‘Torture’ off the Jacksons’ ‘Victory’ album.

She also helped Tom hanks with the choreography for his most memorable scenes in ‘Big’.

And let’s not forget that she dated a few famous men such as Emilio Estevez (with whom she was married from 1992 until 1994) and Keanu Reeves, who appeared in her 1991 video for her ballad ‘Rush, Rush’.  She also dated Arsenio Hall who she met while choreographing ‘Coming to America’ and put in her 1988 video for her hit ‘Straight Up’. And let’s not forget ‘Full House’ actor John Stamos. Paula was also married to clothing designer Brad Beckerman from 1996 until 1998.
