Do you remember Kanye West when he interrupt Taylor Swift's moment at the MTV Video Music Awards? It seems like this was a very good example for those who want some attention.

On Sunday, during The Oscars, while director Roger Ross Williams was accepting the Oscar for 'Music by Prudence', producer Elinor Burkett jumped onstage to say a few words. And as if that wasn't ridiculously enough, Burkett later said that Williams' mother tried to stop her passage to the stage with her cane.

"That's ridiculous. My mother got up to hug me. My mother is 87 years old and has bad knees. She just got excited like any mother would", Williams said Monday on Larry King Live when asked about this episode. Then, referring to the interruption moment, Williams admitted that Elinor Burkett's behavior kind of ruined his night. "Two years ago when I got on a plane to Zimbabwe, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up here. This is so exciting...", Williams was saying just before Burkett took his mic.

"It was a little shocking. I was there to talk about Prudence, we were there to honor Prudence and her incredible message", he said on Larry King show.

Originally Elinor Burkett was also part of the project, but she removed herself from it a year ago due to some creative differences. "The academy is very clear that only one person can speak. I own the film. She has no claim whatsoever. She has nothing to do with the movie. She just ambushed me. I was sort of in shock", Williams told Salon.com, Sunday. The same website has also Elinor Burkett's version and it says the film was her idea.

"What happened was the director and I had a bad difference over the direction of the film that resulted in a lawsuit that has settled amicably out of court. And then, as I'm sure you saw, when we won, he raced up there to accept the award. And his mother took her cane and blocked me. So I couldn't get up there very fast. And you know. I felt my role in this has been denigrated again and again, and it wasn't going to happen this time", she said.

How dare she ruin his moment...

That was a dispicable moment. What a worthless human being. They need security at the Oscars to keep the trash off of the stage. She should be fully embarassed about her behavior as well as the purple bath mat she was wearing.................

Is it really only "his" moment though? I mean, her name was called.... If she really had no part in the film anymore, would her name still be included in there? But on the other hand, she did have an air of someone who was barging in.... But I suppose it's hard not to be like that when Williams is just standing there in front of the mic without backing off a little........ Honestly, I think that they ruined the moment for each other in their awkward, uncoordinated, graceless acceptance speech.

thank you jessica for a reasonable opinion. Seems like they both were jerks and deserved eachother. Sure she was worse, but knee jerk idiots like mike should thinl before typing.

Roger Williams is one of the most egomaniacal and pompous individuals I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. While working with this guy on Music by Prudence, Elinor Burkett apparently realized it too and wasn't going to let him take control of THEIR MOMENT. Keep in mind that Elinor was not some "crazy lady" (as was later referenced by Roger) but her name was called and she actually produced the film short with him. She too was awarded an oscar. Roger's demeanor has always been one centered only on himself and good for you Elinor for standing up for yourself..
