The Knack’s leader, Doug Fieger died on Sunday. The singer best known for his 1979 hit ‘My Sharona’ was 57 years old. According to The Knack’s manager, Jake Hooker, the singer died at his home in Woodland Hills near Los Angeles after a six years battle with cancer. Four years ago, Fieger underwent surgery to remove two tumors from his brain.
Fieger formed The Knack in Los Angeles 1978. One year later he co-wrote and sang lead vocals on ‘My Sharona’.
