Miss America 2004 Ericka Dunlap accuses the organization of racism
Ericka Dunlap hits Miss America organization with another scandal. Miss America 2004 claims that a a racist producer moved her from a prime seat during the competition last weekend because she’s black. So she wants an apology.
“I was sitting there on the aisle, and during the first commercial break during top 15 announcement, a producer came up to me and said, ‘Get out of that seat. I need the seat. I don’t give a f**k who you are. Get out of the f**king seat’”, she explained TMZ. Dunlap said she didn’t move because she was offended by the producer’s tone. “I was spoken to as if I didn’t matter. If I were any other Miss America, I would have never been spoken to like that. But I’m the only black one who comes back”, she said.
In the end, an assistant producer came over and helped the first producer physically remove her from her seat. That’s when Dunlap got “mortified”. The former Miss America had to eventually change her seat. She said she didn’t plan to sue, but she was expecting some apologies.
Meanwhile, the Miss America organization has another version of the history. A representative for the organization said that Dunlap was unhappy with her seat so she changed it with another one “that was reserved for the parents of our contestants”. The representative added, she was offered a better place, but she refused it. “It was strictly a television production issue”, the representative also said.
The two stories are not so different to us. What matters is if the producer really acted rudely or not. Did he explain her the issue? It’s not that hard to understand something like that.
