Michelle Williams split from Heath Ledger a few months before he died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008. But the ‘Brokeback Mountain’ star hasn’t yet found a man to replace Ledger’s memory in her heart. The actress, who’s on the cover of October’s Vogue issue, declared that “The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This [was an] erroneous idea: It just makes things more complicated”.
The actress actually tried to date director Spike Jonze earlier this year, but they are no longer together now.
As a single mother, Michelle admits being very hard to find a person to trust in order to become her 3-year-old daughter Matilda’s father. “I’m falling more and more in love with her. Every time I really miss him and wonder where he’s gone, I just look at her (Matilda). And I think she deserves the bulk of my attention. We’re lucky. I can work. She can go to a good school. There’s a lot there for her. And she can know her dad in so many ways, and so many of his friends who will be able to tell her so many stories. His friends, his family, they were a big part of his life, and they will be a big part of her life”, the former Dawson’s Creek star declared in her Vogue interview.
The actress also revealed that Heath’s death made the paparazzi presence even harder to handle for her. But she still tries to not influence Matilda with her fears. “It’’s because people really loved your daddy that they want to take your picture, to know you’re all right….”, the 29 years mother tells to the little girl every time a paparazzi comes near them.
