Johnny Cash great-niece killed in stabbing attack
Tragedy in late musician Johnny Cash’s family. His great-niece has died after being stabbed. Courtney Cash was found stuffed in a box at her house in Tennessee.
According to the Associated Press, quoting Putnam County Sheriff David Andrews, the girl was found on March 19 in a home about 70 miles east of Nashville. The police report indicates that the scene inside the house was “somewhat bloody” and “there was a struggle”.
Courtney’s boyfriend was being treated for stab wounds at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Apparently, William Austin Johnson escaped the attack with the couple’s child.
In what seems to be an unbelievable history, one of the couple’s friend, Wayne Gary Masciarella, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the attack. The man is being held without bond. He is set in court on April 12.
So far, the motive for the stabbing was not released. But the Putnam County Sheriff hinted that drugs may have been involved.
Following the incident, Johnny Cash’s brother asked for prayers after the loss of his granddaughter. “We are completely heartbroken”, Tommy Cash said.
