Which man cares that his wife stood next to him in tough times? Definitely not John Edwards! The former Presidential candidate cheated on his wife Elizabeth with Rielle Hunter, who’s most likely the mother of John's child. In the mean while, Elizabeth, who's now battling Stage 4 breast cancer, desperately tried to maintain his image clean. Until now!
It seems that the news according to which John was cheating on her with several women and for many years was meant to end his relationship with Elisabeth. "Elizabeth had always sworn she wouldn't divorce John. But every person has a breaking point, and Elizabeth's friends believe she's reached hers.. [she] made it clear to John that she will take him for everything he's got. She will divorce him and claim their $53 million fortune", an insider declared for The National Enquirer.
Another reason that made Elisabeth change her mind about the divorce was the news about the tell-all by Andrew Young, Edwards' campaign aide, who was paid by him to pretend he is Rielle’s child father.
"Elizabeth was read portions of Young's book proposal, and she flipped out. What really pushed her over the edge is Young's allegation that John had other affairs with women on the campaign trail", one close friend revealed.
