40 years after Jeff Bridges' first nomination, he finally took an Oscar! The 60 years old actor was named "The Best Actor in a leading Role" for playing in 'Crazy Heart''s Bad Blake movie as an alcoholic country singer struggling against his inner demons as he battles to recapture his glory days.
Originally, Bridges wanted to turn down the offer of appearing in 'Crazy Heart' after discovering that there was no music attached to it. Then, the involvement of musician T-Bone Burnett made him change his mind. It seems like several of Burnett's songs, performed by Bridges in the movie, have been written especially for the actor. "He did a really wonderful thing. He gave me a breakdown of the music Bad would have listened to growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, where T-Bone grew up. It would have been Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen -- not just this narrow [country music] thing. So Dylan was a role model for me: I watched some of his performances. And certainly (Kris) Kristofferson",  Bridges said about his collaboration with T-Bone Burnett.

Everybody thought that Bridges' Oscar was not only a recognition for his well done role in 'Crazy Heart', but also a recognition of his lifelong career in showbusiness. "Thank you, mom and dad, for turning me onto such a groovy profession" Bridges said, looking skyward in tribute to his late actor parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges.
His main competitor at The Oscars last night was Colin Firth for his role in 'A Single Man'.
