Glee: Whitney Houston tribute
Glee Whitney Houston tribute airs on April 24. After a short break, the musical series returns with new adventures on April 10, on Fox.
Two weeks from tonight, the Glee Club will be paying tribute to music legend Whitney Houston. The episode is titled Dance With Somebody. Eight of the late singer’s songs will be featured. I Wanna Dance With Somebody and It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay are among them. A photo of Naya Rivera and Brittany Heather Morris performing the Dance With Somebody hit has already surfaced. The picture shows the two actress wearing almost the same outfit Whitney wore in the original version of the song.
On April 17, the Glee cast will be paying attribute to disco in one episode titled Saturday Night Glee-ver.
According to Wikipedia’s description, Glee is “a comedy-drama television series that airs on Fox. It focuses on the high school glee club competing on the show choir competition circuit”. Meanwhile its members deal with relationships, sexuality and social issues.
The series was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Songs covered in the show are performed by the actors. A series of ‘Glee’ albums have been released by Columbia Records. The series features numerous song covers sung onscreen by the actors. Ryan Murphy selects the songs, while Zach Woodlee is the choreograph.
The first season was nominated for nineteen Emmys and four Golden Globe. In 2010, Glee won Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Jane Lynch, guest-star Neil Patrick Harris and Murphy’s direction won Emmys for the same season.
In 2011, the show once again won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer won Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor. Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele received nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress as well.
