Gabby Douglas Googles herself
Gabby Douglas is a real winner. The 16-year-old gymnast won the gold medal at the Women’s All-Around final competition on Thursday, August 2.
She is proud of herself. But what she did after winning? She went to her room and searched herself on the Internet. “I was on my computer Googling myself. I googled ‘Gabby Douglas’ and all these things popped up like ‘Gabby Douglas makes history!’ And ‘She’s the champion!’ It was an amazing feeling. I was looking at all the pictures of me on the podium”, she told Us Weekly.
The next day, she saw that people wrote her messages on Twitter to congratulate her. Not just regular people congratulated her. Stars such as Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift also took Twitter to show their respect for the Virginia native.
Even President Barack Obama called Gabby to congratulate her. “It was an amazing experience and such an honor. I was like ‘Oh, Mr. President, it’s so nice to meet you. I mean, talk to you! Sorry’”, she laughed.
After the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Gabby is waiting for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. And she’ll be there. “I’m definitely going to keep going. I don’t think I’m going to retire just yet. People tell me I’m too young, and I want to stick with it”, she said.
