Fidel Castro suffers stroke that almost kills him
Fidel Castro‘s days are numbered. The former leader of Cuba has suffered an embolic stroke. According to TMZ, quoting El Nuevo Herald, Castro’s health is so bad, he can barely eat, speak or recognize people.
El Nuevo Herald talked to a doctor who is said to be informed about Castro’s health. “[Castro] could last weeks like that, but what I can say is that we’ll never again see him in public”, doctor Jose Marquina told the newspaper.
Castro hasn’t been seen in public since this past March. He went public when Pope Benedict XVI visited Cuba. 86-year-old Castro held the position of Prime Minister of Cuba from 1959 to 1976, and then President from 1976 to 2008. He also served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba from the party’s foundation in 1961 until 2011.
He was married twice. At first he married Mirta Diaz-Balart in 1948, but they split in 1955. In 1980, Castro married his current wife Dalia Soto del Valle. Fidel Castro nine children with several women.
