Roger Ross Williams and Elinor Burkett

Roger Ross Williams and Elinor Burkett

Elinor Burkett, the Oscars' Kanye West, meaning the woman who interrupt Roger Ross Williams' acceptance speech says not only she is not guilty, but she is actually the victim in this case. Adding that she was the one who was supposed to pick-up the award, just that she was too slow to get to the stage. So it was just a matter of speed?
Burkett talked to Joy Behar and claimed Roger Ross Williams "bigfooted" her to the stage, instead of waiting for her to join him so they could accept together. Indeed, Elinor Burkett's name is on the Best Documentary Short award for "Music by Prudence". So how's fault is? Roger Ross Williams' because he was faster? Elinor Burkett' because she was too slow? Or The Oscars' fault for putting two names on one award when the rule says that only one person can accept one award?
Anyway, Burkett said she felt she had to get involved in Williams' speech because he was only talking about himself ... and not giving proper attention to the movie's star, Prudence Mabhena. "I'm really not very good at keeping my mouth shut", she added.

Roger Williams is one of the most egomaniacal and pompous individuals I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. While collaborating with this guy on Music by Prudence, Elinor Burkett apparently realized it too and wasn't going to let him take control of THEIR MOMENT. Keep in mind that Elinor was not some "crazy lady" (as was later referenced by Williams) but her name was called and she actually produced the film short with him. She too was awarded an oscar. Roger's demeanor has always been one centered only on himself and good for you Elinor for standing up for yourself.
