Drag star Sahara Davenport dies at 27
Antoine Ashley, best known as Sahara Davenport, died. The drag superstar who raised fame on season two of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2010 is dead. He was 27.
“Logo is profoundly saddened by the passing of Antoine Ashley who fans around the world knew and loved as Sahara Davenport. He was an amazing artist and entertainer who’ll be deeply missed by his Logo family. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, especially his boyfriend Karl, in their time of need”, Logo, the network behind the show wrote in a statement.
The network confirmed the passing on its Facebook page Tuesday morning, October 2nd.
So far, the cause of Antoine Ashley’s death remains unknown.
The star is survived by boyfriend Karl Westerberg. “I love him so much”, Karl wrote on Twitter.
He competed on season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race as Manila Luzon. Antoine and Karl released a duet, ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ in December 2011. As Sahara Davenport, Antoine released the singles ‘Pump With Me’ and ‘Go Off’.
Antoine Ashley was eliminated in the sixth episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race during season two.
