Pete Doherty auctions Amy Winehouse blood painting
Pete Doherty is auctioning painting made with Amy Winehouse’s blood. The former Libertines singer will be auctioning off some of his art pieces in London later this week.
The painting with the late singer’s blood is just one of the pieces: his private diaries, guitars, clothing and other personal items. As for the painting made with Amy’s blood, called “Ladylike” is expected to sell for between $80,000-$129,000.
“Amy was on the phone to her dad when she did that [painting]. She said, ‘Dad, I’m with Pete and he’s making me draw with my blood!’ He didn’t like me much, her dad”, Doherty explained to The Independent before his exhibition in February.
During the exhibition, Doherty sold more than 15 of the 20 blood paintings. The other paintings were made using his own blood.
The rumor had that Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty were more than just friends back when she was alive. “We’re just good friends. I asked Pete to do a concept EP, and he made this face, he looked at me like I’d pooed on the floor. He wouldn’t do it. We’re just really close”, Amy told Rolling Stone.
Recently, Pete Doherty revealed to NME that he was “wallowing in his own filth” when he heard the news that Winehouse died. “Literally not able to move. I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t see anyone, I couldn’t pick up the guitar and when I did pick up the guitar it was woeful ballads about how Amy wouldn’t be coming round tonight. It wasn’t a very inspiring time”, he said.
Amy Winehouse died in July 2011 from accidental alcohol poisoning.
