Will Farrell as Ron Burgundy
Anchorman sequel: Ron Burgundy back on the news desk! During his appearance on Wednesday night’s ‘Conan’, Will Ferrell announced an ‘Anchorman’ sequel.
“To everyone here in the Americas. To our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK including England as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself . . . have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman’”, Ferrell, dressed in costume as the ridiculous newsman, told the crowd.
The first installment of the movie was in 2004 and it also starred Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate.
According to Deadline, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner will be joining Ferrell and they’re still “kicking around ideas” for the plot. As for Christina Applegate, so far, we don’t know if she’s coming back too.
The movie about the hard-drinking, doltish, sexist newsman Ron Burgundy was directed by Ferrell’s creative partner Adam McKay and produced by Judd Apatow. This film is number 100 on Bravo’s 100 funniest movies, and 113 on Empire’s 500 Greatest Movies of All Time, according to Wikipedia.
As for the cast, we just love it.
Will Ferrell is best known from ‘Old School’, ‘Elf’, ‘Stranger than Fiction’, ‘Blades of Glory’, ‘Semi-Pro’, and ‘The Other Guys’. Despite some people saying he’s overrated, the man is just awesome. It’s like he’s not playing a role, it’s like he’s playing himself. He’s a natural.
And there’s of course Steve Carell, whom we discovered a few years ago in ‘Dan in Real Life’. But he also starred in ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’, ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, ‘Evan Almighty’, ‘Get Smart’, ‘Date Night, ‘Dinner for Schmucks’, and ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ and ‘The Office’. Carell was nominated as “America’s funniest man” in Life magazine.
Let’s not forget Paul Rudd. He’s like a cup of tea, an aspirin, the good guy who always gets fulled by people but who has always a lesson to teach.
Don’t let us down, guys!
