Amanda Knox
Amanda Knox, the 24-year-old student who was accused of the murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy back in 2007 has an agreement with HarperCollins to made public her story.
Knox, was an exchange student when she imprisoned in Perugia, Italy in 2007 and then acquitted October 3, 2011 after serving four years of a 26-year sentence. So far, Knox has not publicly discussed her version, but she’s willing to do it for money.
“Knox will give a full and unflinching account of the events that led to her arrest in Perugia and her struggles with the complexities of the Italian judicial system. Aided by journals she kept during her imprisonment, Knox will talk about her harrowing experience at the hands of the Italian police and later prison guards and inmates. She will reveal never before-told details surrounding her case, and describe how she used her inner strength and strong family ties to cope with the most challenging time of her young life”, HarperCollins said in a statement Thursday.
HarperCollins is one of the 20 publishers which were interested in writing a book about Knox’s story. She only met with 7 of them and the deal has been negotiated on Knox’s behalf by Washington attorney Robert Barnett. It’s unknown how much Knox is going to make out of this deal, but this is surely a seven-figure deal.
The book is scheduled for early 2013, while Knox will be working with editor Claire Wachtel.
