Al Gore with wife Tipper
After being married for 40 years, former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper have decided to go their separate ways.
In one statement made for the Associated Press the couple said it was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration”. Despite the fact that Gore described his wife as “someone I’ve loved with my whole heart since the night of my high school senior prom”, their relationship has come to the end.
62-year-old Al Gore lost the 2000 presidential election in front of George W. Bush. In 2007 he won a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar for his documentary, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. His wife, Tipper is an advocate for mental health issues.
The couple have three children together: Karenna, 37, Kristin, 33, Sarah, 31 and Albert III, 28.
